This wedding was a special one for us.  I went to high school with the bride Danielle, and when she and her Fiance Dave asked us to photograph their wedding at Glencairn Golf Club in Milton, we were more than honoured to say yes!  We’re proud to call Dave and Danielle very dear friends of ours.

The day began at Dave & Danielle’s house in Milton where Danielle and the ladies (and her Man of Honour) got ready for the big day.  Danielle’s brother walked her down the aisle, and one of my favourite images from the day is her brother seeing her for the first time in the doorway at her home.  So sweet!

The ceremony took place at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Milton. Dave was so excited to see his bride and you could just see how happy he was to marry her.  Justin and I love shooting weddings where there is so much love in the air, and you can just tell that these two are meant for one another.

After this beautiful couple were officially announced as husband and wife, we took a ride in their gorgeous Rolls Royce classic car over to the Milton Town Hall and courtyard gardens for some alone photos, and finished our portraits on the Glencairn golf course with their fun-loving wedding party.

The reception was full of great food (as always at Glencairn), emotional speeches, beautiful Tiffany-blue, black and white decor and a romantic first dance for the Bride & Groom.

A huge congratulations to Dave & Danielle – you two are meant to be together forever.

This wedding is a stunner!  Alyssa & Jason became husband and wife this past summer at the Fermenting Cellar in the hip and historic Distillery District in downtown Toronto.  It was a gorgeous wedding, full of colourful details and beautiful style.

The bride and groom got into their wedding attire at the always lovely One King West Hotel, where we had time to capture all the pre-wedding fun and a few portraits of Jason and Alyssa before they saw each other for the first time.  These are actually some of my favourite bride and groom portraits from last year.  Check out Jason’s groom portraits – believe it or not, this was just in front of the window in his room, with some video light!  We didn’t alter the background lighting at all.

We left One King West and headed around the corner so these two lovebirds could have a ‘first look’ at each other, which was magic as usual!  Justin took one angle and I took the other.  The wedding party then joined us for some fun photos around this alley off of King Street, after which we were off to the Distillery District.  Love the shots we did with the bicycle!

The wedding ceremony was held in the Fermenting Cellar, followed by a Chinese tea ceremony, romantic first dance and dinner reception.  Everything was so dramatically lit and looked amazing.  Justin and I were thrilled when Alyssa & Jason wanted to head back outside into the Distillery District to shoot some night time photos with us – these are our favourite images to create as we can get so creative with them.

Well, on April 12th, 2012 we had our baby boy Liam!  He was born at 1:30 PM, weighing in at a lovely 7 lbs 4 oz and he immediately stole our hearts.  Liam is our first baby, and so we are learning about parenthood as we go (lesson #1 – sleep whenever you can!)

We shot Liam’s first portraits when he was just 6 days old, and we wanted to share these with you.

You may be wondering when we’ll be back to work?  Well we already are!  We shot our first wedding back on April 28th, 2012 for an amazing couple Krista & James at the Ancaster Mill (can’t wait to share their images with you all), and we are looking forward to a busy 2012 wedding season.

I have been meaning to post this wedding for a while now – apologies in advance for a ton of photos – I had one heck of a time editing down to even these!  This was a beautiful wedding day for Michael & Sarah, despite the craziest weather we had all last year.

The day began at Michael’s house where he got ready with his family and groomsmen, and then we headed over to Sarah’s place where she dressed along with the girls.  We took the opportunity (as it had been raining on and off) to get some fun shots in the street of Sarah and her bridesmaids).  Shortly after we were off to the church!

Michael & Sarah officially became husband and wife at the beautiful St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Woodbridge, after which everyone piled into the limo bus to drive over to the Kleinburg Railway Station for some photography opportunities.

As I mentioned earlier, the weather was crazy! We had rain, insane wind and even hail!  Justin was trying to hold an umbrella over my head while shooting, but even so I was totally soaked despite the rain gear I was wearing.  Luckily Michael & Sarah were real troopers and despite the sideways rain had no problem posing for their wedding pictures at the Kleinburg train station – under the overhang and the umbrella of course!

After the bride & groom’s alone portraits it was time for a warm-up, so we hit a coffee shop with the wedding party to have some hot drinks and it was a great opportunity for some fun wedding party photos of everyone just hanging out.

The reception was held at the stunning Bellvue Manor in Woodbridge.  The whole venue was gorgeously decorated, and the entire evening was lovely.

Victoria & Mack fell in love at the University of Waterloo, so it was an obvious spot to shoot their engagement photos!  Justin and I had never visited the U of W campus before, but it’s a very cool space with modern design and it gave us a great opportunity to play around with our off-camera lightning we love so much.

We then proceeded over to the Perimeter Institute for some outdoor shots, and finished at Waterloo Park which was lovely and we managed to grab a few sunset shots.

Congratulations Victoria & Mack – we are excited to shoot your Miller Lash House wedding this year!

This engagement shoot took place last Fall when Justin and I met up with James and Krista in Hamilton at their favourite coffee shop Detour Coffee Roasters.  This cafe is their favourite spot to grab a cup of joe, so we began the shoot with some intimate portraits inside the cute shop.

We then decided to head over to Webster’s Falls Park and we climbed down a small hill to access a beautiful view of the waterfalls!  It’s a pretty cool little spot for engagement photography, as there’s also a huge park with nice big trees and a beautiful stone bridge – just gorgeous!

Congratulations James & Krista – it was awesome working with you on your engagement session and we are excited to shoot your wedding this year at Ancaster Old Mill!

These two are so adorable!  We first met Lesley when she was the Maid of Honour at Shelley & Derek’s wedding at Hockley Valley Resort in 2010.  This past year Lesley got in touch with us with the exciting news that she had become engaged to her husband-to-be Jay, and they wanted Justin and I to shoot their wedding – of course we were honoured!

I love this engagement shoot since it was so fun and unique – we shot everything at the marina in Pickering on Jay’s Dad’s sail boat, and we had absolutely gorgeous weather.  It was a lovely cruise (what a relaxing way to work!) and it was so nice to get to know Lesley and Jay better before we shoot their big day this summer at Eagles Nest Golf Club.

Congratulations Lesley and Jay – we are so excited to work with you this year!

I am loving this image from Stephannie & Roan’s wedding day in Toronto this past month.  I’ve wanted to shoot in front of Massey Hall for a while now as it’s such a beautiful Toronto landmark and one of the best places in the city to see a concert.

A quick note from this winter wedding in Toronto – it was January 14th and absolutely FREEZING, and these guys didn’t even blink when it came time to shoot their portraits outside.  Both Stephannie and Roan (and their awesome wedding party) were real troopers, willing to tough it out in -12 degree weather (-20 degrees with the wind chill!) and they didn’t even look cold it their photos…amazing.  I’m so lucky to have clients who care so much about creating great images and are willing to go that extra distance to make it happen.

Well, it’s been a big year for us both professionally and personally.  First, our business is growing and every year we find we’re busier with new and amazing clients (we love you all!)  Second, we bought our first house in Rockwood, ON – a beautiful little town just East of Guelph, about 25 minutes North of Milton.  We have setup our in-home studio and we just love it here.

And third and possibly most exciting … we’re having a baby!  This is our first child (other than our Russian Blue kitty Morrissey – arguably our first baby), and we are beyond thrilled!  I’m due in early April, and we have found out it’s a BOY!  As we’ll be new parents this year, we’re taking a very limited amount of weddings in 2012, and only have a few select dates still available in certain months.  If you’re interested in working with us for 2012, please get in touch to check about our availability.

We’ll be back to work officially in May 2012, but until then we wanted to share a couple maternity portraits we had taken by the lovely and talented Scarlet O’Neill, who is not only a great photographer but a great friend.

Wow, this couple was so much fun!  Priscilla got ready at their condo, and Keith came by with his groomsmen to try and win his way in the door during the traditional Chinese door games.  I say traditional, but it was only traditional if you consider singing Backstreet Boy songs traditional.  The guys had to sing ‘I Want It That Way’ to the ladies and answer several very tough trivia questions before Keith was allowed in to see his beautiful bride Priscilla.

It turned out that the roof of Priscilla & Keith’s downtown Toronto condo building was the perfect location for some wedding party photos!  I just love the view of Toronto City Hall from their roof.

We then headed over to the bright & sunny Distillery District for some more wedding party photos, and continued shooting inside the gorgeous Thompson Landry Gallery in the Cooperage Building, which is a stunning and modern art gallery space.  We love working in unique spaces, and this gallery is at the top of our list as one of our favourite Toronto locations for dramatic images.

Priscilla, Keith and their guys and girls posed for us some more outside on Wellingon St. West and then we headed upstairs to the gorgeous Canoe Restaurant in downtown Toronto for their wedding ceremony, tea ceremony and reception.

The bride and groom said “I do” and became husband and wife in front of their nearest and dearest friends in a room overlooking all of the Toronto skyline.  The tea ceremony followed and after a triumphant entrance, the newlyweds took part in some party games including “who’s butt” where Priscilla had to guess which bum belonged to Keith.  Hilarity ensued.

Congratulations Priscilla & Keith!  It was an honour to capture your wedding day and we hope to work with you again in the future!
