Wow, this couple was so much fun!  Priscilla got ready at their condo, and Keith came by with his groomsmen to try and win his way in the door during the traditional Chinese door games.  I say traditional, but it was only traditional if you consider singing Backstreet Boy songs traditional.  The guys had to sing ‘I Want It That Way’ to the ladies and answer several very tough trivia questions before Keith was allowed in to see his beautiful bride Priscilla.

It turned out that the roof of Priscilla & Keith’s downtown Toronto condo building was the perfect location for some wedding party photos!  I just love the view of Toronto City Hall from their roof.

We then headed over to the bright & sunny Distillery District for some more wedding party photos, and continued shooting inside the gorgeous Thompson Landry Gallery in the Cooperage Building, which is a stunning and modern art gallery space.  We love working in unique spaces, and this gallery is at the top of our list as one of our favourite Toronto locations for dramatic images.

Priscilla, Keith and their guys and girls posed for us some more outside on Wellingon St. West and then we headed upstairs to the gorgeous Canoe Restaurant in downtown Toronto for their wedding ceremony, tea ceremony and reception.

The bride and groom said “I do” and became husband and wife in front of their nearest and dearest friends in a room overlooking all of the Toronto skyline.  The tea ceremony followed and after a triumphant entrance, the newlyweds took part in some party games including “who’s butt” where Priscilla had to guess which bum belonged to Keith.  Hilarity ensued.

Tran & Eric’s summer wedding last year was a real stunner!  The happy couple said their vows and became husband and wife at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Toronto.

The newlyweds had wonderful luck with the weather and we had a gorgeous day for wedding party and alone photos of the bride and groom, which took place at the Toronto Botanical Garden.  We had a great time with Tran & Eric and their wedding party – one of my favourite images of the day was the bridal party grouping at the gardens.  I love the ‘Vanity Fair’-style pose, and Tran nails it with an awesome fashionista stare!

A traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony followed at The Eglinton Grand, before the happy couple made their grand entrance and took to the dance floor for a romantic first dance.  This was our first Eglinton Grand wedding and I must say it was stunning and so unique!  This venue has a real flair for the dramatic and definitely puts the bride and groom in the spotlight for the night.

One of our favourite features at the Eglinton Grand is the custom marquee out front, which makes for a personalized and dramatic nighttime portrait opportunity which we were excited to take advantage of.

Jill & Danny got married in a beautiful ceremony at the elegant Graydon Hall Manor in Toronto last August.  This day was wild weather-wise – we got caught on the 401 heading downtown in the worst rain storm we’ve ever driven in!  We were lucky that we arrived safely, but even luckier when the skies opened up and the sun came out.  As a result we got some beautiful shots at the front gates of Graydon Hall, after which Jill & Danny had their Bedeken, signed their Ketubah, and proceeded downstairs surrounded by friends and family to have their heartfelt Jewish wedding ceremony under a huppah.

The sun stayed out for more portraits outside (yay!) and Jill and Danny celebrated the beginning of their reception with a rousing hora on the dance floor.  Horas are so creatively great to shoot because they are so much fun!

The reception was held under a huge tent outside Graydon Hall on the terrace.  This is a beautiful option for your reception on a warm summer wedding day.

“My husband and I did a lot of research into photographers before our wedding because we 1) had heard horror stories from other people’s experiences and 2) we knew that photography was the one thing that we would have to remember our wedding day in many many years. Since we booked our dream location – The Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District we needed to make sure that the memories were captured well.

Lisa and Justin were the absolute most responsive with respect to timeliness and willingness to meet our needs (our package was slightly customized to meet our needs). We exchanged e-mails at first and then met in person at their studio….we felt so comfortable with them that we cancelled some other appointments we had with other photographers and booked with Lisa straight away.

The day of the wedding they were right on time and really just stepped right into snapping shots — never wasting an opportunity for a good (I should say great) photo. They kept us on schedule to make sure we got all the shots on our ‘wish list’ which was amazing because it was less for me to worry about…

My husband and I werent sure how comfortable we would be in front of the camera, but Lisa and Justin made it so natural for us that it was really fun to do! They were also both wonderful with our little flower girl and ring bearer (4 yrs and 5 yrs old at the time). We just got our photo’s back and Lisa really did capture all of the natural moments of the entire day. And the night shots….the night shots were amazing. I recall taking photos that night and someone walked by and asked us if this was a REAL Wedding…LOL! But honestly, the way that Lisa set us up in some of the lighting in the Distillery, it looked so creative and artistic – it did feel like it was for a magazine! Truthfully, everyone that has seen all our photos thinks that they are absolutely amazing…and I agree!

We opted not to have a videographer, and to be honest, we got so many shots of the day with Lisa you really see the ‘story’ through her lens….natural, beautiful moments of friends and family…some moments I recall clearly, and other moments are ones that I didn’t get to witness myself on the day — either way, the photos really allow us to relive that special event forever.

This stylish couple have set the date for their wedding day in the summer of 2012, but we headed out to the Distillery District in downtown Toronto with Stephanie & Charles to shoot their engagement photos this past summer.

After some romantic & fun photos outside Balzac’s Cafe, we left the Distillery District and headed over to the always fashionable Yorkville for some night time shots. As many of you know, we love creating dramatic images with our clients and Yorkville is one of the coolest spots to shoot, with the shop windows and fountain.

Emily and Charlie had their very first date at a romantic little restaurant on College Street in Toronto, and sometime between then and now Charlie asked for Emily’s hand in marriage, and she said yes!  So we thought it would be a great idea to return to that very spot to shoot their engagement photos.

We love shooting along College Street and in Kensington Market, which is so colourful and varied.  This is one of the best spots for graffiti walls in downtown Toronto.

Back when Dallas contacted us to shoot her wedding, I was honoured because Dallas is a fellow photographer located in Montreal, but she was getting married to her sweetheart Brian here in Toronto.

The ceremony and reception all took place in one of my favourite venues in Toronto – The Berkeley Church, a historical Toronto wedding venue that was built in 1871 and has some of the most unique and interesting spaces a photographer could ask for!

Much of Dallas & Brian’s wedding was DIY, as Dallas is clearly very creative!  Justin and I particularly loved the vinyl records used as table charts and table numbers.  The entire wedding, from the bride & groom’s fashion choices to the decor had a fun, retro vibe which totally suited the happy couple.  Check out this month’s issue of Toronto Life Weddings to see featured images from the couple’s amazing DIY projects.  My favourite might be the cake toppers.  When I asked Brian why the flamingo and T-Rex, he said “well Dallas likes flamingos and I like dinosaurs”.  Simply awesome.

Debra & Neil are a bride & groom with a fun, urban style and we had a lot of fun with that during their wedding day last summer in Toronto.  After Debra got ready with her ladies at the beautiful Le Meridien King Edward Hotel, we walked outside so that she and Neil could have a reveal, where they see each other for the first time.  They shared some hugs, kisses, and then the bride and groom were ready for some alone and wedding party photos around Toronto.

We decided to walk to the nearby One King West where there was stunning light and we met up with their wedding party along the way.  Debra & Neil really wanted some TTC street cars in their images and I think we did pretty well catching a few!  Afterwards it was off to the always lovely Rosewater Room for a few more photos before the ceremony took place.  This was the first time I had shot in the restaurant part of the Rosewater Supper Club and WOW, I just LOVED the big booths and dramatic up-lighting on the walls.  I’m looking forward to using this space more in the future.

The wedding ceremony took place upstairs in the Rosewater Room, and the bride beamed as she walked down the aisle, given away by her obviously proud Dad.

The reception was filled with friends and family, many of whom had travelled all the way from the United Kingdom as Neil is English, so we made sure to take lots of group photos of everyone who had come to celebrate with the happy couple.

Congratulations Debra & Neil!  You were absolutely lovely to work with and we wish you all the best in your new life together as husband and wife.

You may remember these two lovebirds from their High Park engagement session last Spring.  This was a very creative and fun wedding, and we were even given a special treat at the reception as Laura & Adam are professional opera singers in the Canadian Opera Company – please read on to learn about their amazing entrance!

The wedding day began at Laura’s mother’s house where she got ready with her bridesmaids and then we headed over to the ceremony which was taking place at the always gorgeous Knox College Chapel inside the University of Toronto.  I adore shooting at the Knox College Chapel – the light is stunning and there are so many opportunities to capture candid moments.  One of my favourite moments of this wedding day was captured when Laura’s father approached her right before the walk down the aisle – there’s just such a connection between the two of them at that very moment that’s so lovely.

The ceremony was gorgeous and we shot their wedding party, family formals and bride and groom portraits around the University of Toronto grounds.

Onto the wedding reception which was held at The Faculty Club, all the wedding guests were treated to an AMAZING aria sung by the bride & groom to one another atop a balcony overlooking the entire room.  These two are so talented, and it was a real honour to hear their amazing voices in such an intimate venue.

Congratulations Laura & Adam, you were clearly made for each other!
