Well we are now half-way through February and I am ready for Spring and Summer to come. I confess I am not a fan of the winter months. Being Canadian I suppose I should be used to it by now, but considering the fact that I’ve never been very “sporty”, and I don’t ski, snowboard or skate, that leaves very little for me to do outside during the winter months. Therefore I shall go back through the backlog of weddings I didn’t have the time to blog about during the Summer and Fall of 2009. Please feel free to follow along over the next few weeks as I re-live them all!
First up on my list is Jennifer and Travis’ wedding. This beautiful couple actually lives in Las Vegas, but Jennifer is actually from Ontario. Therefore when it came time for the big day, they chose to say ‘I do’ in Toronto, and maybe people flew in to celebrate with them.
Jennifer and Travis have so much spirit and make a very happy couple – it’s so much fun watching them together. They really enjoy being together. Taking photos of them was also extremely easy because they are used to cameras, both being in show business. Jennifer is a professional dancer in stage productions and Travis plays Frankie Valli in the musical ‘Jersey Boys’ (first on Broadway in New York City and now in Las Vegas). As a result they were both naturals on-camera!
With the sun shining, Jennifer & Travis’ wedding began with some fun shots of the girls and guys (apart of course), and then they had a beautiful ceremony at the Metropolitan United Church in Toronto on Queen Street. This church is simply gorgeous! And it has such character.
After the unity candle was lit and the ceremony finished, we headed out for photos. We shot a few in front of the church and then proceeded down the road to the Flatiron Building (aka the Gooderham building) on Wellington Street West. From there we took a stroll down Wellington. This is actually one of my favourite ways to shoot – you choose a general location with a few interesting streets and just walk around to find some unique locations. We ended up behind a restaurant but found many places with beautiful light.
When we were done with photos in St. Lawrence Market, we headed back to the car and onto the reception. Dinner and dancing were on the itinerary at Canoe Restaurant & Bar. This venue is simply stunning and we had an amazing view of all of Toronto. If you want a dramatic location for a reception – this is it!
P.S. The steak was amazing
A big thanks to Jennifer and Travis, and to your families for being so lovely to Justin and I the whole day long!
